Campionato italiano Flying Dutchman 2025
Il Vela Club Tarkna con il patrocinio del Comune di Tarquinia ospita dal 27 al 29 giugno prossimi l’edizione 2025 del Campionato italiano Flying Dutchman.
La manifestazione è anche la tappa italiana della Coppa Europa di Classe.
Nell’ambito del Campionato verranno inoltre attribuiti la Coppa Fabrizio Cruciani ed il Trofeo Eraldo Forti in memoria di due storici soci del VCT e regatanti della Classe, rispettivamente al miglior timoniere italiano ed al miglior prodiere italiano.
Coppa Fabrizio Cruciani e Trofeo Eraldo Forti
La Coppa Fabrizio Cruciani ed il Trofeo Eraldo Forti costituiscono il doveroso e sentito omaggio a due velisti legati tra di loro da una profonda passione per il mare, la vela e, soprattutto, per il Flying Dutchman.
Il loro amore per l’FD nasce a metà degli anni ‘70 quando alla scuola vela del Vela Club Tarkna, allora diretta da Fabrizio Cruciani, si iscrive il giovane Eraldo che nel corso degli anni si appassionò alla vela fino a diventare egli stesso prima un aiuto istruttore della scuola vela e poi un grande prodiere di FD.
Fabrizio Cruciani, nel frattempo, dopo un lungo amore per lo Strale, passò a regatare sul Flying Dutchman e successivamente riuscì a portare al Vela Club Tarkna diverse regate nazionali.

Arrivare al VCT è facile. Tarquinia è servita dall’omonima uscita dell’autostrada A12 Roma-Genova.
- Provenendo da Roma, si esce a Tarquinia e si procede in direzione Lido.
- Provenendo da Nord lungo la A12, si prende l’uscita per Tarquinia al km 102+500 e si procede sempre in direzione Tarquinia lunga la SP Litoranea per circa 12 km fino ad arrivare alla rotonda sulla SP Porto Clementino, per poi proseguire in direzione Lido.
- Provenendo dalla A1, si esce ad Orte e si percorre la SS675 Umbro-Laziale in direzione Viterbo-Civitavecchia per circa 54 km fino all’immissione con la SS1Bis Monteromano Est. Si continua a percorrere la SS1bis per 16 km fino all’incrocio con la A12, ingresso Monteromano. Si continua sulla A12 per 5 km circa e si esce a Tarquinia, da cui si procede per il lido lungo la SP Porto Clementino per 2.5 km fino alla terza rotonda.
- Superata la rotonda, si continua a percorrere la SP Porto Clementino per circa 1,8 km fino a raggiungere l’incrocio con lungomare dei Tirreni.
- Si svolta a destra per Lungomare dei Tirreni e si percorrono circa 250 mt. La sede del VCT è alla sinistra.
Logistica barche
Arrivo
Le imbarcazioni verranno scaricate nel parcheggio del VCT e spostate immediatamente sull’arenile negli spazi che saranno assegnati dall’Organizzazione a terra.
I carrelli, una volta scaricate le barche, saranno spostati nello spazio adibito, indicato sulla mappa come P2.
Le autovetture potranno essere parcheggiate presso gli spazi disponibili: presso il parcheggio P1, a 50 mt. dal Circolo, a pagamento, oppure nei parcheggi P2 e P4, a circa 400 mt, gratuiti.
A titolo informativo, è possibile effettuare pagamenti giornalieri (3,00 €/giorno) o mensili (20,00 €).
Al momento della scrittura dell’articolo, la sosta è gratuita dalle 22:00 alle 8:00 del giorno successivo.
Eventuali concorrenti in possesso di camper possono usufruire dell’area di sosta libera a loro riservata (P3 sulla mappa) alla tariffa giornaliera di 3,00€/giorno, oppure presso il Camping Tuscia Tirrenica. Sul territorio comunale è vietato il campeggio al di fuori degli spazi indicati, nonchè la sosta di roulotte ed appendici.
Ripartenza
Il giorno della partenza, per evitare code e attese e per agevolare le operazioni, sarà consentito il carico di un limitato numero di carrelli per volta. Una volta caricati, auto e carrelli dovranno uscire dal parcheggio del Club e tornare all’area parcheggio carrelli P2 in attesa della partenza.

Il parcheggio interno del VCT è utilizzabile solo durante le operazioni di scarico e carico delle barche. Terminate le operazioni di scarico la autovetture ed i carrelli dovranno essere spostati al di fuori del Club.

Per i carrelli è messa a disposizione l’area sulla SP Porto Clementino, di fronte ai campi da padel, identificata dall’etichetta P2. L’area è riservata alla sola sosta di auto e carrelli.
L’area dirimpetto, la P4, è per il parcheggio libero delle auto.

Sono disponibili numerosi parcheggi facilmente raggiungibili a piedi. Il più vicino (parcheggio P1) è a pagamento (3€/giorno).
E’ disponibile un ampio parcheggio gratuito (P2, in parte all’ombra) a circa 250 mt dal Club.

Tarquinia è soprattutto storia e cultura.
Il suo territorio offre possibilità uniche di approfondimento della storia greco-etrusca e romana, e un importante passato nel medioevo.
Rinomate le tombe della Necropoli di Tarquinia oltre all’importantissimo Museo archeologico nazionale di Tarquinia.
La città medievale risale a prima dell’anno 1000 ed è interessante visitarla, soprattutto la suggestiva chiesa di Santa Maria in Castello sita immediatamente a ridosso delle mura fortificate ed eretta sulle vestigia del primo insediamento urbano post romano.

Per chi fosse interessato, il Vela Club organizza una visita guidata del Museo e di Tarquinia medievale per il giorno di giovedì 26 giugno dalle ore 18:00 a sera, con apericena nella suggestiva Piazza delle Erbe sotto le torri più alte.
Obbligatoria prenotazione da effettuare per mail alla segreteria del circolo indicando il numero dei partecipanti.
Per motivi organizzativi, sono disponibili solo 20 posti.
Il costo è di €40 a persona comprensivo di guida, biglietti e apericena.

Flying Dutchman Italian Championship 2025
Vela Club Tarkna, under the patronage of the Municipality of Tarquinia, is proud to host the 2025 edition of the Italian Flying Dutchman Championship from 27 to 29 June, which is also the italian leg of FD Europa Cup.
Furthermore, in memory of two Vela Club Fellows, both great FD sailors, the Fabrizio Cruciani Cup and the Eraldo Forti Trophy will be awarded to the best Italian Senior helmsman and the best Italian bowman, respectively.
Fabrizio Cruciani Cup and Eraldo Forti Trophy
The Fabrizio Cruciani Cup and the Eraldo Forti Trophy constitute a fitting and heartfelt tribute to two sailors bound together by a deep passion for the sea, sailing and, above all, for the Flying Dutchman.
Their love for the FD was born in the mid-1970s when the young Eraldo enrolled at the Vela Club Tarkna sailing school, then directed by Fabrizio Cruciani, and over the years became passionate about sailing to the point of becoming himself first an assistant instructor at the sailing school and then a great bowman of FD.
Fabrizio Cruciani, meanwhile, after a long love affair with the Strale, switched to racing on the Flying Dutchman and later succeeded in bringing several national regattas to Vela Club Tarkna.

How to get there
Getting to the Vela Club Tarkna is easy. Tarquinia is served by the A12 Rome-Genoa highway.
- Coming from Rome, get out at Tarquinia exit and proceed in the direction of Lido.
- Coming from the North along the A12, take the exit for Tarquinia at km 102+500 and continue in the direction of Tarquinia along the SP Litoranea for about 12 km until you reach the traffic circle at the SP Porto Clementino, and then proceed in the direction of Lido.
- Coming from the A1, exit at Orte and drive along the SS675 Umbro-Laziale in the direction of Viterbo-Civitavecchia for about 54 km until the junction with the SS1Bis Monteromano Est. Continue on the SS1bis for 16 km to the junction with the A12, Monteromano entrance. Continue on the A12 for about 5 km and exit at Tarquinia, from which you proceed to the lido along the SP Porto Clementino for 2.5 km to the third traffic circle.
- At the large roundabout with a big krater in the center, turn right and continue along the SP Porto Clementino for about 1.8 km until you reach the intersection with Lungomare dei Tirreni.
Turn right onto Lungomare dei Tirreni and drive for about 250 m. The VCT clubhouse is on the left.
Shore logistic
Arrival
Boats will be unloaded in the VCT car park and moved immediately onto the beach in the spaces allocated by the shore organisation.
Once the boats have been unloaded, they will be moved to the designated space, indicated on the map as P2.
Cars may be parked at the available spaces:
- at the P1 car park, 50 metres from the Club, for a fee,
- in the P2 car & trolley park, approximately 400 metres away, free of charge.
For your information, daily fee is 3.00€ from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m..
At the time of writing, parking is free from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. the following day.
Competitors with camper vans may use the free parking area reserved for them (P3 on the map) at the daily rate of €3.00/day, or at Camping Tuscia Tirrenica. Camping outside the designated areas is prohibited in the municipal area, as well as the parking of caravans and trailers.
Departure
On the day of departure, to avoid queues and minimize waiting and to facilitate operations, the loading of a restricted numeber of trolleys at a time will be permitted. Once loaded, cars and trolleys must leave the Club car park and return to the P2 trolley parking area to await departure.

The car parking inside the VCT is allowed only during the unloading and loading of boats. After unloading, cars and trolleys must be moved outside the venue.

For trolleys, the area on the SP Porto Clementino, in fronte of the padel courts, identified by the label P2, is made available. The area is reserved for car and trolley parking only. - Car parking
Several car parking lots are available at a convenient distance. The closest (car park P1) is chargeable (3€/day).
There is a large free car park (P2, partly in the shade) about 250 m from the Club. - Motorhome parking area
An unequipped parking area for motorhomes only (no caravans, no tents) is available at the area identified as P3, right next to the trolley car park. Free camping and parking of camper vans and caravans outside the reserved areas is not permitted in the municipal area.

Must see
Tarquinia is above all history and culture.
Its territory offers unique opportunities for in-depth study of Greek-Etruscan and Roman history, and owns an important past in the Middle Ages.
Renowned are the tombs of the Tarquinia Necropolis as well as the very important Tarquinia National Archaeological Museum.
The medieval town dates from before the year 1000 and it is worth to spend some time to visit, especially the striking church of Santa Maria in Castello located immediately behind the fortified walls and erected on the remains of the first post-Roman urban settlement.
Guided tour
For those interested, the Vela Club is organizing a guided tour of the Museum and medieval Tarquinia for Thursday, June 26 from 6 p.m. to evening, with an apericena in the picturesque Piazza delle Erbe under the highest towers of the town.
Mandatory reservation to be made by email to the club secretariat indicating the number of participants.
For organizational reasons, only 20 places are available.
The cost is €40 per person including guide, tickets and apericena.
In case, if requested by guests, it is possible to arrange the same visit for Friday, in the same manner and at the same time.
